Any tv brands to stay away from?
I'm looking to pick up a new tv and just wondering what brands people have had problems with. I'm not looking for a monster size tv, just 40-46" most likely and I don't like the glare on the plasma tv's so it will most likely be LCD or LED. I'm not looking for any real features so the smart tv type of stuff isn't needed.

Have always had luck with samsungs (currently own 2 LCD). And just picked up a led LG that I absolutely love so far
|
We bought an LG LCD TV a few years ago, I think it's either 37" or 39" - it's an oddball size, but it was the biggest that would fit our entertainment center. It has a great picture and not a lot of fancy extras. I would definitely recommend one of theirs.

Samsung and LG are the big 2.
|
samsungs are damn good although i will say, for cheaper brands, i havent had any problems with the vizios i picked up and use as monitors.

Stay away from anything with tubes, as it is had to find test stations for them anymore. Plus I think black and white TVs may become outdated soon...
|
Believe it or not my 32" dynex has a better picture than my 37" lg...plus the lg speakers are horrendous.
|
Ive got two Dynex (22" and 26"), one for each bedroom and theyve been great for going on like 4+ years now. My 52" is a Sharp Aquos, going on 5 years and was a floor model... the TV is pretty much on 24/7 and hasnt given a hiccup. I think now a days, anything sold in a chain store is going to be pretty reliable.

I have a Sony Wega DLP 50 inch. It is 4 years old and aside from replacing the bulb every 2 years ( which runs 40.00) it has been perfect. Its full 1080p and has a great picture. Was looking to upgrade to a LCD/LED over Christmas but every TV we looked at the picture didnt really look as good as the DLP.
|
I was trying to look at the tv's and see if I could really tell the difference between the 60hz and 120 hz on the LED tv's but I really couldn't tell a difference.

I got a 55" Vizio LCD TV 2 years ago for $800 during a christmas sale and it's still has a crisp clean picture. LG & Vizio are the way to go.

I have a 42 inch LCD Samsung that's about 3 years old and I love it. I have had no issues what so ever

Just an FYI, I think Samsung makes the actual screens for Sony, so there is no real need to buy Sony, lol. I have a Sharp Aquos, I have had it for about 5 or 6 years now. I am very happy with it and I will buy another when I upgrade. My friend also has several and his family too. Great value for the price. |
I also have a Sharp Aquos. It's a 37" and I've had it for at least 6 years. If I was in the market for a new TV I would probably buy another Sharp. We used to have a smaller Vizio which worked great until the kids decided they had enough of Barney.

From what I've seen Samsung makes the nicest looking tv's. Best Buy just had a sale on a 70" LED that I was so close to getting this weekend but I couldn't pull the trigger.
I have a 55" Sony LED and love it. Smart tv with Gorilla glass and all the other bells and whistles. |

ive got a 42 inch vizio LCD, has fantastic picture and good sound.

I have no idea what's good. I'm the guy at Best Buy standing in front of 100 t.v.'s , thinking to myself "what the he11 is the difference?"

lol when i bought my vizio, it was on sale for like 275, i liked it so much i went out and bought another the same day lol |
I just started looking for a new TV as well. Walmart has a good deal on a RCA 42''. The review for it says the speakers suck but I was wondering if anyone had an RCA tv and how the speakers sound?
It's $350 1080p, Anyone see anything comparable in price out there that might be better? I'm looking for a name brand. Edit: I have a dynex as well. I like it but its only 720p. |

I have a 5 year old 32" Samsung 720p LCD in the bedroom and a 1 year old 46" Samsung 1080p LED in the living room - love both of them.
