How to tell if a car is #s matching...

Ok, before I spend hours upon hours googling it, how and where do I start the search to see if the 69 bird I bought is #s matching. The person I bought the car from said it was the original motor and trans. I know 100% that the motor is a pontiac motor. That can not be mistaken.
Any infor would be awesome. thanks, Tim |

I'm not a pontiac guy but camaros have partial vins on the block and trans. That's the high level numbers matching, not getting into dates codes and such of other parts.
I think you can get records from pontiac to verify what the car had new that chevy guys would kill for. |

 Also:
http://www.pontiacpower.net/castnum01.html VIN MUST MATCH to be numbers matching. It will also be on the transmission. |

Ok the # by the distributor is B230. So from what I read thats February 23rd of 1970. So it cant be orig motor.
