New Kitten

The wife and I picked up a new kitten. His name is Jax and he is about 3 months old now. He is a pure bred Siberian and should grow to around 25-30lbs. We chose this breed simply because they are usually hypoallergenic and are considered very dog-like in their mannerisms. These cats only shed their coat a couple times a year but otherwise shed very very little. I can run a brush through him on a regular basis and might get a hair or two if anything.

I'm more of a dog person but cats are generally lower maintenance. He will follow us around the house and generally likes being close to where we are at all times. Being a kitten, he likes to get into trouble but I think he had been doing really well. Good thing he is very affectionate.

Here are some pics.

Damnit, I was all ready to come in here & give you grief about getting a cat and all.

...I'll just leave. Touche. I'm no match for that mug.

He's pretty damn awesome. Start teaching him fetch!

LTb1ow 03-15-2013 07:19 AM

He got pretty big quick BLS

Blackbirdws6 03-15-2013 07:23 AM

Thanks guys. He is growing pretty quick for sure. We are working on the fetch part but he gets distracted easily. He has these little mouse toys with catnip in them. He carries them throughout the house with one of them in his mouth. My shoes need to go in the coat closet now because he likes to put the mouse in my shoe and proceed to lose it trying to get it back out.

So cute! I just got a tuxedo kitten at the end of January and chose to get a cat instead of a dog for the same reasons. She's 5 months now and more playful than my mom's dog haha. Get him a laser if you haven't already, they go crazy chasing them.

They are great cats. Great personality. I have one as well, hes 14yrs old now. I think 25-30 lbs is a lil heavy for them, then again mines like 40lbs. Hes like a fat blob, haha.

I love cats! Mine likes to go on car rides with me and sit in my lap and sleep, she goes crazy if I don't take her with me.

cool cat best of luck with him. hopefully it doesnt get as fat as the other cat that was posted in this thread haha.

Blackbirdws6 03-18-2013 05:43 AM

Thanks guys. I picked up a laser pointer today and this may be the best play toy yet. I may have overdone in a bit because he literally couldn't chase it anymore. Mid run he laid down and fell asleep. Lol

sweetbmxrider 03-18-2013 07:25 AM

Hahahaha you gotta get him ripping in circles! Its sooo fun! You should make the gopro mount the kid did for the commercial. Its just a tissue box with a string to pull it. He unfolded it so there is taper in the front to go over the carpet to tile transition etc.

Generally, cats don't like Squirrels

Catnip, laser pointers, and paper bags are your friend with an energetic cat like that. Mine is the same way. My cat likes the cars too which is a plus. If he hears me or my dad come down the street in one of our cars he greets us at the door like a dog. Lol

Better get dem peptides for off cycle brah.

Blackbirdws6 03-19-2013 07:41 AM

Kitten wasn't feeling too well yesterday and decided not to clean his backside. I decided to wash him up a bit which was an interesting experience. (I know cats don't usually need to be bathed). My left arm may never look the same lol.

He is doing well today and decided that my head was a punching bag this morning. It was pretty funny.

Well Jax is a little over 4 months old and growing fast. He learned a new trick this weekend. He plays fetch now which is pretty fun. This started on Saturday and he does it pretty reliably for a few minutes before he gets bored. I took a video and have others.

Look at the size of his paws, he's gonna be huge.
