What style front end do you prefer?

I want to see what the general opinion is....

Do you prefer the stock LT1 nose with the stock flat hood?

OR

Do you prefer the stock LS1 front end with the stock z28 hood?

The SS hood on either is not really a choice as of right now so this is for z28 styles ONLY.

Point is, for an LT1 car... stock nose or upgrade?

Color is a more rare color NOT made for the 98+ but would looking amazing IMO.

LT1 front end.

Camaro LS1 fronts look like ugly catfishes.

The new SS

BonzoHansen 03-15-2013 09:46 AM

i like the later noses better.

but i never liked changing front ends on any car

V 03-15-2013 09:50 AM

My issue is that the stock hood is trash, and the front bumper was an aftermarket one that was prepped poorly and fits like crap.

I have an LS1 front bumper, hood, impact bumper and one OK fender. Id just need a 2nd fender and headlights.

So either way, the hood, bumper and roof will be getting repainted, so now is the time to change stuff.

Ultimately, I need to build a car that will SELL better. plain and simple.

If you going for a cheap flip on a car go with parts you already have. I have a good passenger fender for cheap if you need one.

LT1 Front with SS hood. Looks nasty!! With the stock hood they both dont look that good but the LT1 still looks better in my opinion.

SilverDropTop 03-15-2013 01:00 PM

If you were going with the SS hood, I would have voted for the 98-02 front end. If you need, I have 2 nice red front 98-02 fenders. You can have them.

Where in Staten Island are you? I can pick them up on a weekday on V's behalf, if need be.

If you want to sell the car faster, a newer model year look will entice potential buyers..i'd vote ls1 front in that case.

Lt1 front end

maroman88 03-15-2013 02:31 PM

going for resale, id question why a newer front end was put on the car...

personal opinion is leave it the stock way

That is an excellent point.

Whatever you piece together from what you have, DO IT RIGHT. If you are just looking to throw some parts together with a Earl Scheib spray bomb job for a quick flip the color or style you choose wont matter at all so no reason to continue reading. Fit and finish with some form of attention to detail will bring huge rewards. If its parts from 5 different cars please at least have the back side of the parts or panels a consistent color, a can or 2 of spray paint will not blow the budget. Remember this is a vehicle that at any given time a potential buyer in the area can have 10 or more choices with the click of a few buttons, so spend the time to fix all the small stuff as well as the big stuff. I hate looking at a car and the guy says it just needs a few little things... IF HES TOO LAZY TO FIX THE "FEW LITTLE THINGS" he certainly didnt spend all his time fixing the major things. As always you will never get the money spent in return for your hard work, but if you add a little something to the build and kindly spend a few moments to educate a POSSIBLE potential buyer as to why he or she should spend the extra coin on your car it just might pay off. Do it once and do it right...

Keep it LT1 Paul

yes, all painted parts will be fully painted, then assembled afterwards. I will be doing the paint work myself with ppg paints. I do want a very good fit hence why i don't like the aftermarket front bumper currently on it.

donnj 03-15-2013 04:40 PM

What primer and clear do you use ?

V 03-15-2013 04:58 PM

Its all ppg stuff. I use the shopline products epoxy primer and the clear. I just checked and the only thing I still have left laying around in my garage is a container of the PPG epoxy primer hardener. I guess I used everything else up. I get my supplies from Colours Inc in Hackensack.

I'm right off the west shore expressway at the victory blvd exit.

BonzoHansen 03-15-2013 09:10 PM

huh, my father in law lives on victory.

V 03-16-2013 10:04 AM

Well, it no longer matters. The car will now be getting parted due to title issues. I am not a happy camper.

NastyEllEssWon 03-17-2013 05:58 AM

damn that sucks. i was gonna say i actually like the lt1 noses better plus adam makes a good point about resale with a different front end on it. looks its neither here nor there :(
