Cant hurt to ask...

Anyone's company currently hiring in their finance/accounting department? After leaving my last job due to the work conditions, ive been having trouble finding a new position. Im only the second person in my family to ever graduate from college and the first to ever go to grad school, so most of my friends and family are blue collar people hence not many bridges to get in that way. And we all know its who you know, not what you know, especially these days. Just figured it couldnt hurt to put a feeler out there, feel free to pm me if you'd like.

you try Waste Mangement, or any of the bigger trash haulers?

find your own damn job. youre always complaining about jobs, well thats not our job. You shouldnt ever quit your job if you dont have another lined up, no matter what the working condition. I heard mcdonalds is hiring.

2nd part maybe. First part no way. Networking is a massive part of job hunting.

Losing a job sucks good luck getting another. I have been struggling for over a year making crap trying to get into something full time.

well yes networking is, but last i checked most people arent going to put their name on the line for someone who quits jobs without having another lined up. (even part time retail)

I can't believe all this nastiness hasn't been deleted. lol

Board must be getting soft

FoodStampsz 04-10-2013 05:21 PM

Does squirrel owe nastyellesswon some money or something? That was pretty harsh lol

ReDmAn1902 04-10-2013 07:25 PM

It sucks but thats the way it is

Yeah I hear ya bro, but I lose my job due to being in an union. I get laid off cuz of these company's lack of work, but like i said thats the way it is. When I am not working with the union I FIND WORK with non union outfits to stay busy, you have to be aggressive and positive, no one is going to help you or come to you!

I will pass an opening along to somebody looking or pass a resume along to a company that's hiring but I won't personally vouch for somebody unless I know them very well. Even then, that stuff usually carries little weight- as it should.

My point is that networking doesn't have to be "giving somebody a job", it can be merely getting somebody in the door so that they can get a chance to prove themselves in an interview. You have to find an opening before you can interview for the job, and that's certainly what can be assisted with no personal risk.

These days you would have to be foolish or lazy to not explore every avenue in a job hunt.

And there are plenty of circumstances that can be behind an immediate exit without another line-up. The world is not black and white.

Throw an app in with NJ Transit. I don't know about the finance side but I know some craft
workers have been hired recently.
