Are these with the hollow intake vales and sodium exhaust vales? Factory ZO6 heads got those. From my previous research, all 799 an LS2 243 heads got solid stem valves.

The_Bishop 07-15-2013 11:08 AM

No way to easily tell unless you remove the valves, check them for length and weigh them.

I was told that the green paint marking on the intake valve as seen in my picture, means they are the hollow, filled intake valves. I have no way of actually knowing. I can tell you they are great heads at a great price. If I cant sell them, they will end up on my LQ4 suburban along with the bnib LS6 cam that I have for it.8-)

Anyone building a LS or looking to upgrade to premium GM castings? Will easily save you $1500 by not needing to buy an aftermarket head that is comparable.

Do you know what the valve springs are rated for regarding valve lift?

The_Bishop 08-09-2013 10:38 AM

The stock LS6 springs are only good for stock or stock-like cams (Hot cam, ASA cam). You can't use them for any aftermarket cams.

79camaro 08-09-2013 04:53 PM

Exactly right, they are a stock style single bee-hive spring rated to 550 lift with a hydraulic roller.
