What grinds your gears?

Besides a broken trans and a mis-shift, what grinds your gears? I'll start.

Had to go to a family birthday party in S. Jersey. My wife went home with her mother the night before (she lives in S. Jersey) so I would be riding solo down the NJ turnpike. The G8 was clean and it was a beautiful day so off I went. Now I will admit, I was feeling a bit saucy being by myself with no performance limiter in the passenger seat (aka wife yelling) and some angry music. Before we get too far, I will be clear no street racing took place.

Over the next hour, no less than 3 cars made it clear they wanted to "play" but either wanted me to chase them at ludicrous speed or would do a flyby and then weave through traffic.

1st one was a Challenger R/T that looked fairly stock. I would speed up a little to catch up and say hi. The faster I would creep up, the faster he went. It was clear he didn't want to get side-by-side so I decided to open it up to stop the cat and mouse. He went into the right lane and slowed down....ok. 2 mins later he must have got WOT and passed me while then taking the next exit. Ehh whatever.

2nd was a newer, lowered white WRX. Similar situation as the challenger except he decided it would be fun to see how many cars he could cut off to get away from me. I don't do that nonsense so again...whatever.

3rd and final, last gen 335i coupe slammed to the ground with a flat black wrap. Looks like it was modded. I know those cars with some mods can be pretty quick. He made it a point to catch up to me and I was clear of my intentions. Like the WRX, he wanted to weave in and out of traffic.

I guess I need to make a trip to the drag strip...

I absolutely hate when people go weaving in and out of traffic like that in a car. Especially when they know your car is faster so they have to prove they're more bad ass by risking their car and life, along with yours, and every other motorist on the road. With that being said I'm also not surprised that you found a bimmer doing that, I'm sorry but the majority of those that I come across just drive without a care.

What also grinds my gears is when you get a part for your car, in this case my expensive ass 9" rear, and the shock mounting holes are to small for the shock mount!!!! Now I have to go find a big drill bit and drill out the holes. I thought I was paying for stuff like this to already be done?!?!

Front office is chasing us down for making exact 40hours a week, etc etc, boss just says give me at least 160 per pay period. Its BS kiddy ****.

The amount of stuff I have accumulated over the years.

Mainly car parts and tools/equipment. It takes me on average15-20 minutes just to find a tool I need or a part I sold online. The garage is the size that in the past it has fit 4 cars plus a 60 gal compressor, engines/trans, and other parts all at the same time yet currently, I trip over no less than 4 random things just tryign to walk from on end to the other. The basement has a ton of parts, as well as the celler, backyard, and secondary garage. I just filled a 13yard dumpster like 3 months ago during a cleanout and it didn't seem to make a dent. I wish I could bring myself to just throw out everything I'm not currently using but its hard. Ive been parting out/selling parts since 2001 and I've seen the value of decent OEM parts for 3rd, and recently 4th, gen cars begin to rise dramatically. I can't bring myself to throw out potential money. I don't have an established career just yet so sometimes if I need a few extra bucks, I grab a few parts out, post them one ebay or online, and I have an extra couple hundred bucks. I know I just have to suck it up and start tossing more stuff but it won't be easy, especially at this time in my life being married, having a 4 month old son, going to school full-time, and working in my free time. Makes me almost hate cars.

When I finally start to get financially on my feet and get kicked down on my ass again.

Case in point: My wife's exploder was on the verge of exploding. While unexploded, it has some value, so... Out I go to trade it (and cash) in for another lower mileage used Explorer. The timing of the thing sucks, and has now slowed down my financial plans for paying off all debt and preparing to retire in about 4.5 years.

I hate sitting on conference calls that could have been emails that were called and are being moderated by the person that asked for what was done in the first place and is now confused as to what happened and why. Even better when the only person who's normal lunch schedule this doesn't interefere with is the one to set up the call.

GGGrrrrrrrrrr

Google voice can transcribe your voice mails into texts!

Road wise, truck traffic. Went down to NC last week, routes 78, 81. Some areas are 70mph, some 65. 2 big rigs together and 1 decides to pass...going up a hill...in the wrong gear...loses momentum. Now instead of passing the lead truck you have 2 trucks side by side doing 50-55 for the next 2 miles. Over and over. GRINDS MY GEARS

Ahh gotcha. I've had similar. We do not bill our client hourly for the work we do in NJ however I'm told to only put 40 hours on my timesheet. I'm clearly doing more than 40 hours and would like it to be shown.

Sounds like you need to get some friends together to help organize/post stuff up for sale. I've never seen the amount of parts you have but I imagine it is significant.

I swear whenever I get a good deal of cash at one time, someone sends a message out and an unexpected expense comes up. :)

25% of my time during the week is meetings. Another 15% is prepping for a meeting lol. Management is good and bad.

2 miles isn't too bad but with a ride like that, I can understand the frustration.

A car that fights you every step of the way, you go to tackle one problem only to discover another underneath it, constantly slowing down progress.

And right now with the amount of weddings I have to attend this year, because getting married seems to be the cool thing to do these days is cutting into extra money for the car between hotels, gifts, and bachelor parties!

Allergies this past week. Seriously...can everything NOT be covered in green **** this week? kthanksbye

Had enough money saved for the car I want and the Ion died, leaving me to spend money on a brand new car.

Creases in my patent leather sneakers. I know theyre inevitable but..dammit. they look so bad.

Its a catch 22, do I break my doc's in so they are comfy or do I leave em nice and smooth

NJSPEEDER 05-04-2015 04:21 PM

Docs have to be broken in. Key is to have a daily pair and another pair to leave nice for going out

redsoxsstink 05-04-2015 04:59 PM

burnt out brake lights, windshield wipers at obnoxious speeds, people that lean on cars, people that use my tools and put them back dirty/unorganized/not properly oriented with the other tools.

many things annoy me, im a curmudgeon

For me its the people who book a detailing job at the shop, confirm right before, and then never show...

Every dunkin donuts employee that is responsible for putting soft spreadable cream cheese on my bagel, you are a disgrace. If your job is to toast a bagel then spread the soft spreadable cream cheese, you should spread that ****ing soft spreadable cream cheese evenly about the cross section. I do not want to open my wrapped bagel ten minutes down the road just to find a wad of soft spreadable cream cheese that you somehow managed to cake in the center hole of my bagel. Please spread the soft spreadable cream cheese.
