Flip up Headlights in the Winter
I will be driving my car all winter and I am new with the flip up lights. Do you guys run with them in the up position for the winter? I'd like to keep them up. How do I do this?
|
you can just unplug the motors and then they wont flip down.

I figured so but i figured I'd ask. Thanks

I don't see the point?

The only issue I could see it being reasonable to have them up is if there was a heavy ice storm, or ice was allowed to build up on the hood. It would limit any strain on the plastic gears. However, in those cases you would just take a few min to let the car warm up and then clear it off. And you shouldn't be driving with any snow or ice build up on your car anyway, its against the law in most, if not all, states.

yea, weird. never had an issue

Yes I know how to clear off a car per the law geez I thought I was the only one lol. Im just trying to avoid an issue as Ive heard the gears are weak to begin with. I was aking for input. If you guys dont have issues in the winter than I wont worry about it thanks.............

Best thing to prolong the life of your motors in any season is to keep the 4 tabs that hold the motor housing to the gear assembly, tight. If you can wiggle it significantly, then they are loose and will rise off the gear and strip it out.
