Removing Dash
Taking the dash out to remove the air box. Any tips or tricks to taking it out or is it pretty straightforward?
|
Some on the firewall side too but ya, straight forward. Drop the steering column.

That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks man.

-BMR hvac delete? Pulling the airbags too?
-A second person helps a bit when its all unbolted. It gets a little heavy and ackward. -Careful when you remove your dashpad. Dont be surprised if you crack it a little, be surprised if you dont. |
Yea, I've had the plate for over a year now, and I finally have a little time to do it. I took the firewall screws out while the motor was out so that's a plus. I'm prob going to pull the air bags as well. lighten up the load a little bit.

As mentioned above, the upper dash pad is very brittle & easily broken. Be extremely careful with it. If possible, get a second set of hands.
I've never removed mine solo. I've always had Paul* ("V") handy. *Paul is a wizardly gentleman in northern NJ who holds the Guinness World Record for F-Body dash removal. He set the record in '06, then broke his own record again in 2010. There was controversy surrounding a 2012 removal, in which V removed two dashes back-to-back, in an averaged "Record Time," however due to a lack of representation from the GWR Adjudication Committee, the timekeeping was deemed unofficial & the 2010 record still stands. Regardless, it's advised to page The Wizard. |
