Shots fired, your move Euros....

...and to the "I can just buy a Corvette blah blah blah blah" crew....stay the F out, I don't feel like having another thread locked because of your baseless, ****tard know-nothing opinions/arguing. ;)

The 6thgen is still growing on me but my God....that car is poised to be sick...absolutely sick. If I had the $$ I'd say please take it now. I really want to test drive this 10-speed auto. The 8-speed is fantastic in the Corvette and 6thgen.

That is all, we now bring you to your regularly schedule programming.

sweetbmxrider 03-16-2016 06:39 AM

Nice car. The front grill waves throw me off a bit.

LS1ow 03-16-2016 06:41 AM

Very curious as to how it is with a 10 speed. It still blows my mind when i see that im in 8th gear in my audi.

LTb1ow 03-16-2016 07:28 AM

Land barge with a big rig ten speed?

#seemslegit

Blackbirdws6 03-16-2016 07:52 AM

I like it a lot although I probably would prefer a more duckbill spoiler versus the mini high rise deal. This will be a performer for sure.

Any reason why this wouldn't get the Vette's 7 speed manual? Seems odd.

Doesn't fit the chassis.

Makes sense.

Yup...and to be honest that 7th gear in the Vette is a bit overkill IMO. It's still a nice trans, shifts like butter but that 7th gear isn't really needed.

I love it. If I had the money, I'd be all over it. I don't and never will(married with a baby) so oh well.

Paul Huryk 03-16-2016 10:01 AM

10 speed is going to be a really expensive item to fix when it breaks (and it will). I had seen an article a few years ago where a bunch of car engineers were going through the facts that a 7 to 8 speed is optimal in a gas engine car or truck. The less power you have, the more you need more transmission speeds.

I wonder if Chevy fixed the problem with the 5th gen ZL1's power - they never performed in the 1/4 mile as the 580hp should have done. I know the 6th gen is going to be 200lbs lighter and have 60 more hp, but if it doesn't push 125mph it is going to be an issue.

Frosty 03-16-2016 10:23 AM

The problem with the 5thgen ZL1 is that it's so f'in heavy. I'm still considering picking up a 14-15 ZL1 by years end if things fall into place but after driving a few 6thgens you can really, really feel the difference in the chassis and weight.

What did you mean by your move euros?

Easy, this is a world class car...or at least on paper it looks it will be. To hell with Ford, this car is going European car hunting. :)

I can't wait until we get one in at the dealership.

Right, but what specific offerings from the euro companies?

How do you think a hellcat compares to this zl1?

Blackbirdws6 03-16-2016 11:42 AM

I don't see much cross shopping from the Euro offerings and this car. Sure a few might be swayed to buy this over a M4 but likely not.

I think this car will beat a Challenger Hellcat stock for stock. It may be a close race in a straight line from a roll but that's about it. More tire, less weight and possibly the benefit of the 10 speed should make up for the power deficit.

Hopefully they did a better job managing the heat with this car than the C7Z and CTS-V.

Others bring up Camaro vs Euros as well: http://www.motortrend.com/news/compa...let-camaro-ss/

I understand the whole Euro fighter thing but i dont really see it as much as say we used to. M3 used to be the benchmark for everything and i feel like that is beyond us.

I havent sat in a 6th gen yet, but ive driven countless RS5(our closest comparison for the ZL1), and i dont see the ZL1 taking away any RS5 buyers.

two different markets in my opinion.

That was my thought. Euro is thought to have luxury and refinement where America is more raw and get er done in so many words

True to a point but the 6thgen is a lot more refined, it might sway some people.

However I wasn't really speaking about consumers cross shopping, more along the lines of bang for the buck and overall performance.

Wow, I rarely read magazines, if ever....that's one hell of a glowing review. Glad the "experts" said the same thing, I'm just basing my opinions off of driving experiences...good stuff.

ThoR294 03-16-2016 03:01 PM

The only thing in euro mind is how to over engineer the shyte out of their car. ZL1 better be good because the 5.bro ain't playing around this time.

elle 03-16-2016 03:04 PM

I would just buy a Vette
