Wireless internet struggles inside!
Limited or no connectivity with wireless on windows xp
Everything worked fine with wep security on old modem and separate router. Modem **** out, verizon replaced modem and router with integrated setup. They used wpa2 security. Everything worked fine on plugged in computer and third computer. Second computer requires wep security because reasons. Change it, second computer works fine wireless, plugged in computer works fine, 3rd computer with wireless connection won't assign an ip address from what I gather with wep security. Tried all the simple things. Tried /release /renew Set ip and dns to auto I haven't 100% confirmed but occasionally I can snag another open network and it communicates with router. Haven't been connected long enough to try browsing web though. Thoughts? |
WPA and WEP are not usually able to work on the same SSID and channel as far as I know. I don't know how you could even have a computer that won't do WPA, I think XP and up will do WPA, so how the hell are you still using WEP?
|
Because reasons, one computer can only use wep security. I'm debating just going ethernet instead and running wpa2 like before so 3rd computer works and is secure
|
Go ethernet and get WPA2 back on. WEP is a security nightmare.
Also, so is Windows XP. Any reason you haven't upgraded? |
Yeah, it works
