Disposing of used tires?
Where can I get rid of them for a reasonable fee? Anyone know of any companies or locations that take them? I have at least 50 I need to get rid of. A friend at a local shop pays $2 per tire when he has them picked up but I have too many to bring them to him.

I know 4 times a year Bergen County does recycling days. I went there to dispose of some paint this year, and there was a ton of tires. Free to drop off. not sure if theres a limit or even if youll be able to get 50 tires there

The Bergen county recycling days limit you to 4 tires, per delivery.
So in theory, I could bring my trailer loaded with tires, unhook it around the block, through 4 tires in the bed, pull in and unload them then leave, and get 4 more from the trailer. I could just do that all day. I think they'd get annoyed but hey... its a loophole. I don't care about having to spend 200 or so the get rid of them, I just need them gone. I looked into 1800gotjunk and they only give a price once they show up which bothers me. I want a price per tire ahead of time. |

Get the number from your buddy, whomever picks them up there should have no problem picking them up from you since you intend on paying. Tell them cash too if they seem leery.

scrap metal places let u dispose them but u gotta pay

Just heard back from a place in Linden. They would come pick up if I had a minimum of 100 tires, and charge $2 per tire. I can also drop them off by appointment at $1.50 per tire. Dropping them off would work for me.

I may consider having them pick them up. I need to do an actual count of my tires and see what my friend has. I may be able to reach 100. Otherwise I'll maybe see if anyone local also has tires they need to get rid off and i'll have them bring them here until I get 100, lol.

damn you have to pay to get rid of them. my town takes them for free. if you were closer id say load the truck up and bring them here to get rid of them.

On a similar note, next month I'm getting a large dumpster and doing a purge of parts and stuff. Ive reached the point where enough is enough. My garage is slowly getting somewhat organized but still a work in progress. I took this picture last night... http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5...pswkmvqh4k.jpg Those are just some of my compact spare tire collection.lol. Also, there are two(2) cars in this picture... |
Just went and did a count. I have 65-68 tires with 60 readily accessible. My friend has 6 more. So that brings us to say 65. 35 short of getting them picked up.
I wonder if i can find people with 35 more will to pay $2 a tire to have them disposed of properly and legally. Otherwise i have to figure out how to get 60 tires to linden nj. |
Search for another tire disposal business. Rubberman will pick up a dozen tires without hesitation. $3 per tire though, sometimes more for big tires.
