Cruise week 2017 OCMD

I know its early but I just booked my condo for the weekend. Anyone else heading down this year?? I'm up on 127th away from the extreme madness but still some decent burnouts to be seen. Also able to park my trailer without being ticketed or towed.

Whats the time frame for this one? I haven't gone to one in probably 10yrs, I want to go back so bad, but I work weekends!

Jersey Mike 01-20-2017 11:55 AM

Never done it. Kind of want to, kind of fearful of a five hour, 250 mile voyage.

5/19 - 5/21 you can give the car a break if you take the car ferry out of cape may. I don't do that cause the truck and trailer would cost to much. Plus once you get into Delaware your normally in a convoy of hot rods which is pretty fun. Its seriously an experience that everyone should go to before it gets shut down. The LS1 tech meet and the LSX meet are awesome. Parking lots full of wildest builds.
Few things to keep in mind are if you are tuned for 93+ gas make sure you bring some extra with you.
If your car isn't built for traffic, cruise early morning or late night. During the day the traffic builds up quite a bit.

We got a while to talk, but it's something I've always wanted to do. Just got to log more miles on the car before I trust it a few hundred miles from home.

I will be driving the 71 down there. I think this is my 8th year going for the spring and fall shows. I will be staying at the Comfort Inn Gold Coast on 112th. Best 2 weekends of the year imo, a must for any car guy

6spdg37s 01-20-2017 06:46 PM

whats the highest octane they got down there?

What day do you usually head down?

I leave when I get off of work at 6am on Thursday and come back Sunday.

Highest I saw is 92/93 octane. Lots of people bring 110 or e85 in I don't think there is any place in the immediate area that sells high stuff like that though.

MDSheds_SS 01-20-2017 08:22 PM

You can get 93/92 on Thursday or Friday, come Sat/Sun they are normally sold out. And Wawa is one of the biggest hang outs and the gas pumps is the hot spot to park the hottest of the hot rods so if you think your getting gas you will be waiting until that person is done showing off there car. I filled up before I get onto the strip and brought an extra 15 gallons for back up. Early mornings (6am) are best time to cruise.
I leave Thursday morning also.

Weird, I never once heard of a gas station selling out of gas down there. there are so many of them down there too.

WaWa is a good hangout, so is the old hooters like 2 blocks away. I normally walk up there from my hotel and just pop into all the parking lots to look around. cars are everywhere

I have ALWAYS wanted to go down there for this. I am definitely considering making the trip. I'll keep an eye on this thread for sure.

North Jersey cruise? My coworkers are going to hate me for taking off practically every weekend in May

Jersey Mike 01-21-2017 07:09 PM

The dudes from EFX really got in my head at Firkin today... I think I'm on board!

I'm going to try and organize an NJFBOA meet & cruise down, and see if I can't get a number of us all in the same place for this. Should make for some cool pics/vids!

MDSheds_SS 01-21-2017 07:49 PM

100% in for a meet down there. And late night cruising to Mexico if anyone wants. It's probably the only vacation that I don't drink, just in case I find myself in a situation where burnout needs to be done. Burnout tickets are $75 no points. However if you cross the lines it's wreckless driving with points. Practice makes perfect.

MDSheds_SS 01-21-2017 07:59 PM

If your looking for places to stay the hotels know it's cruise week so they jack up the prices. Look for private condos on "Home Away" or Trulia. Much better bang for your buck plus good parking IMO.

spinning wheels is 1 point and $75 bucks... troop drove over the median to get me

I leave 6am Thursday.. anyone want meet on the turnpike going down? I get on at interchange 11. so that leaves many rest stops to meet up at. maybe we can have a NJFBOA section at the ls1tech roses meet? moar drinking pals is also fun too.

MDSheds_SS 01-22-2017 06:22 PM

Points transfer to NJ? I didn't know that.
Not sure what time I'm leaving, plus I'll be towing the car there so 75mph is about my limit with this truck.

they do transfer, unsure if you will get 2 points on your nj license or just 1.

Just a heads-up, points don't transfer for those of us with NY licenses: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driver_License_Compact

That's my understanding as well. I think NJ assesses everything as 2 points out of state, though, so even if it is 1 point, NJers get 2 points. Not 100% sure on this one, but that's what I read a while back.

I think its a max of 2 points if I remember correctly only cause my exotic car friends are all from NYC and we talked about this a couple years back.

Im also not sure if its 2 points per violation so like u get reckless, careless, unsafe lane change, etc; and u get hit 2 + 2 + 2 ... best is to try to stay out of trouble and if u get caught be really respectful
