NJ DMV custom plates question

Getting a new car considering getting a customized plate.

My question is how does that work if you have a 3 or 5 year (whatever it is) new vehicle registration are you repaying the whole feee again or are you just paying the 50 for the vanity plate ?

Thanks

You are just paying for the new plate ($50).

Yep and my prior Hellcat. Did you buy or lease the new car? If you leased, you will need a signed letter from your bank authorizing the change. If bought, just go with the normal app process.

Buy but financed part of it so bank will have title . I have the dmv pin so I can just do it online once I get my permanent plates right

Financed is the same as a buy so no need for a letter from your bank. You just follow the online process once your current plates arrive.
