New beater

I finally broke down and bought myself a new vehicle for the first time in 26 years. I really like the look of the new 2 door Broncos and when I accidentally sold my Silverado, I had to scramble to find something quickly. I found that 90% or more of the dealers are still marking these trucks up $5-15K and it took a little while to find a dealer that had what I was looking for and at msrp. I ended up getting it from Premier Ford Lincoln in Brooklyn and they even delivered it to my house. It's got the 2.7 V6 so there's no lack of power. I'm used to the regular cab short be pickups so this short wheelbase feels fine to me and the suspension is designed for the 35" tires with the Sasquatch package so it rides pretty nice. Now I just need to get used to this technology crap.

OMG a new vehicle?!?!? On a retiree budget? I'm floored
How does one accidentally sell a Silverado? |
Congrats and don't beat yourself up too much. I would also like to know how you accidently sell a Silvy.

I forgot I still had an ad up for the Silverado on FB marketplace and a family contacted me and wanted to look at it. Since nobody had actually showed up to look at it due to the rust in the bed wheelwells, I told them they were welcome to stop by. They did the next day and still liked the truck and made me a good enough offer. So I had no transportation for the last few weeks. But the real luck was finding this Bronco for msrp when I did. Ford just raised the price on the 2 door Broncos by $2000 back on Feb 10th but my truck was already in transit and I had a deposit on it. That crazy weather we had today scared the crap out of me. We had some pea size hail come through but luckily it did not damage the Bronco. I heard there might have been a tornado at Mercer Oaks golf course as well.

I borrowed my brother's car a couple of times in the middle of the afternoon when he was home working to go to the Firkin. I had to go to the grocery store, and it just happened to be next to the Firkin. |
Looks cool, best of luck

Congrats, I dig it! What color is that, looks like a light blue/grey/white combo. Got a pic of that in better light?

It's cactus gray. Here's another one in the sunlight, not my truck but similar. It's a tough color to get pictures of properly, cameras seem to fade it out too much.

Congrats! Pretty cool to get it at MSRP too. Looking forward to a later review after you get to know it. Seems like a car that is going to be popular among us enthusiasts once they are more readily available.

So the new beater got some wheel/tire upgrades already at only 370 miles! Don't mind the shadow, that picture was taken Sat just before the front came through with the tornados that popped up around the state.

Jeff, any issues with leaks from the roof? Have they settled that issue?
|
I haven't had any issues with the top leaking. If the windows aren't up all the way, it will drip in at the front corner where it meets the roof panel/windshield. If the windows are up all the way, when you open the door, they automatically move down a little and when you close the door they go back up automatically so you just need to pay attention to that.
|
Oh crap, Jeff actually retired?!?
