Pro or Anti NASCAR?

Are you Pro or Anti NASCAR? I know I cant stand it, and I hate how it taks up 23 of the 24 hrs of Speed.

I grew up watching NASCAR, and loving every minute of it. I'll admit, they are going downhill fast. Way too much regulation - they are turning every weekend into a show instead of a race.

I still watch some, but I'm not upset if I don't get a chance to catch the race.

I am a NASCAR fan, but it is getting more comercialized. It has to. Dale Jr is my husband, and Kasey Khane is my boyfriend.

thats tough as of now i'm for it, especailly since now i'm hearing on an nj track in the meadowlands. but as soon as i see a toyota camry doing laps i'm calling it quits and becoming anti nascar.

P.S. I'm a big tony stewart fan and big anti jeff gordon fan lol

There were rumors of a track going up near Sayreville.. (got info from a politician on the inside. )

But I'm sorta anti or apathetic. Kinda boring. I will be REAL anti if it they do build that track and make even more traffic for me though.

NJSPEEDER 09-09-2004 03:34 PM

it gets borign really fast and the rules prevent anyone from introducing any technology. they also seem to be willing to leave all the tracks that produce teh action worth watching(rockingham has 3 of the 5 closest finishes in nasscar history, yet they are dumping it).
i guess that is what happens when the sanctioning body(NASCAR) and the largest race track company(International Speedway Corporation) are both owned by the same guy.
it's ok though, the new points system was a nice self induced shot in the foot.:)

totally against NASCAR. it has to be the most boring of all automotive competition. "yay, let's go in a circle 500 times."

my favorites are drag racing and SCCA races. reminds me of playing Gran Turismo. I hate turning on the Speed Channel, and seeing the next 6 hours are all NASCAR programming. I'm considering writing in to them to complain.

AliWantsNss 09-09-2004 03:49 PM

How could you say NASCAR is boring when you like to watch drag racing? How many times can you watch someone go in a straightline? It is even worse in person. I can't change the channel!

Vanilla_Gorilla 09-09-2004 04:01 PM

world superbike
190 mph and they turn BOTH ways

because drag racing is a direct, head-to-head competition. it's very quick, most races are decided by hundredths of a second. how often do you get that in NASCAR? when there's 50 cars on the track running around in a circle 500 times, like i said, that's boring.

Amy 09-09-2004 04:16 PM

Well, in Nascar it's all the same car. Drag racing is different cause you get to see a variety of cars. Sometimes the cars that are drag racing get cliched.. but they're not all 2002 Monte Carlos with similar color schemes running at about the same speeds. Nascar would be fun.. but only if I were driving. And yeah, sometimes drag racing can even get old. 8)

formula1, 230ish, turn both ways, and have more technology than any other vehicles on the planet :)

what about an F/A-18 Hornet, or F-16 Falcon, or F-15 Eagle, or an F-22 Raptor, or a handful of other military jets? i'd say those are the most tecnologically advanced vehicles on the planet. If we wanted to go extraplanetary, the Space Shuttle is probably tops.

ar0ck 09-09-2004 05:05 PM

Look Hos, I can turn left and do it really fast!

NASCAR is supposed to be Stock Car racing, not million dollar top of the line "tube cars"

Squirrel 09-09-2004 06:58 PM

on TV=boring....in real life=badass :D....i really like(d) the speedvision series they had, with the audi's, beamers, and teggy's, competition was close and fun to watch

foff667 09-09-2004 09:06 PM

i dont like watching racing...maybe thats my problem...I'd rather be at the track doing it.

BigAls87Z28 09-09-2004 10:35 PM

SCCA Speed TV GT Class racing was great! Watching and hearing thoes CTS-V's literaly thunder around the track is great.

Nah - the F1 cars are still tops. Planes have to have mechanical systems for redundancy. Formula 1 cars have been 100% drive by wire since the early '80s. The space shuttle would prolly come close, but if you look at the systems in F1 cars, I think you'd be amazed.

I can think of several races decided by a few hundreths in the last few seasons. There is something about drivers going head to head bouncing off of each other coming down to the wire that is more exciting than watching a top fuel or funny car lauch, smoke the tires, or blow up, and coast 3/4 of the track. And it takes sooooo long in between races. There is way more drama and competition in NASCAR. They have to use strategy with tires and fuel, make pit stops etc. Drag racing= green light go! WOW! Don't get me wrong, its ok if I do it, but as far as spectating, I would rather watch NASCAR on TV or in person before sitting through a whole drag racing event.
