Pirelli Tires

man it is B*TCH to find a place that has Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires in stock, called about 15 places within 20miles of me, tried both TireRack and DTD and everyplace doesn't carry them or on back order, SOB!

EDIT: Just got off the line with Pirelli and they are on National Backorder and aren't making anyomre, just as i find a great tire, it stops, SOB again!

wow, thats really crappy. good luck finding a new tire of choice.

THECowboy 10-21-2004 10:46 AM

either ContiExtreme's or i will fork over the dough for Michelin Pilot A/S's, if i had enough cash i would get dedicated snow tires on steelies and then mount up some F1 gs-D3's

I can get you prices, but they are gunna be more expensive then Tire Rack. Let me know what you need.

I have 245/45 17 Continental ExtremeContacts on my '88 SS. I've put about 1K miles on them, and like them a lot. I have no experince with them in rain or snow, but everything I've heard says they'd be awesome in those conditions.

Snow tires are for sissies! I used to drive my supercharged 93 Indy 500 Pace Car in the snow with the stock GSC's. And my SS454 pickup is even worse with the POS tires that are on it now. But the way I look at it, snow is a good excuse to stay home and if they need me at work that bad, they can send someone with a 4x4 to come pick me up!

I have the P Zero Nero M+S 245/50-16 tires from TireRack.... best damn tire that's ever been on my car. Cut my best 60' time with them, 2.02 ain't too shaby for 38psi full street/autocross trim :) .
I've used them in the snow and they rock compared to anything else in it's catagory. To be completely honest, these tires in this size are impressing me more than all the high performance summer tires I've had (include dunlop sp8000's, Kumho 716 Z rated compound, and BFG's). Obviously the Kumho's were crap but the other 2 are rather good but out dated designs.
You really can't go wrong with these tires. The only downside is a lack of sidewall stiffness. I find it better for a daily driver because the car doesn't track nearly as bad as with the other tires. Good luck finding them or just go out and buy a steelie/winter tire package. I think I just read in TireRack that it's only $468 for a 98-02 (obviously includes 93-97) f-body. Comes with wheel covers, lol.

someone i was talking to at a tire place mentioned Toyo Proxes' but i haven't heard anything about them, so tonight or tommorow morning i will be ordering my tires unless i can find someplace with them in stock. Al, how much are either the Conti's or the Pilot A/S's in 245/50/16's? Thanks in advance

mastercraft avenger gt's baby

THECowboy 10-21-2004 06:57 PM

speed rating isn't good enough, i need something to AT LEAST 130mph and those are only good til 118

JL8Jeff 10-21-2004 08:29 PM

I have the Falken Ziex tires 245/50 and 255/50/16 on my 68 Camaro. They have a sidewall that sticks out to protect the rim from curb rash but the tread pattern is pretty decent. They're z-rated tires and the 245's are around $100 or a little less.

I am looking at those either Z or H rated, how do they perform? snow/rain?

i got a quote from TireRack saying they won't be gettin any for 3months. I remember reading somewhere that the 05 Stang has the P-Zero Nero tires, so maybe Ford f*cked us over?

BigAls87Z28 10-21-2004 10:50 PM

Ok, I will throw in my .02 as I am, or so they tell me, a tire professional.

What are you looking for in a tire? Is it an all around performance tire? Do you want a good dry weather only tire?

Falkien ZE-512's are a good tire, and has a very agressive tread. Good all around performance tire is the BFG Traction TA. Read up on the tire on Tire Rack. Its a great little tire, and is very cheap.

THECowboy 10-22-2004 06:31 AM

that's where i did my reading, i want an all-around tire(Ultra-High or High Performance All-Season according to TireRack) that can handle snow and such, go to speeds of around at least 130mph.

THere are quite a few tires i am deciding on. The BF Goodrich Traction T/A, Dunlop 5000, BF Goodrich g/force T/A KDWS, Michelin PIlot Sport A/S's, Kuhmo ECSTA ASX, and the Continental ContiExtremeContact

doesn't matter now as they are all so closly rated, I think I am going to choose the Conti's. They are 2nd in rating, with the tires i compared, only to the Michelin's. I want the Pilot's but the price is just too high.

THECowboy 10-22-2004 09:36 AM

well, i am one happy motherf*cker right now, Pirelli has changed the time it is only 3-4 weeks, so i can wait. These are, according to everywhere i read, THE BEST all-season tire out there, and for the price, DAMN
