I need to make money!

Ok guys let's hear all of your ideas for ways I can make a couple grand extra this winter. I owe my parents about $9k and want to pay them back by spring. As soon as I pay them back I can move out which is a top priority. I've been giving them about a grand each month out of my paychecks, but I need more.

Any one have any good ideas no how I can pick up a few hundred bucks here and there?

Ha....I already did that years ago for a tank of gas, a hooker, and a six pack.....still seems like a good deal to me.

But seriously...I'm looking for legit ideas here.

Work for FedEx.

Your garunteed to make at least 100 a week. And you actually earn your money.

But my plants further north then you, but look around the papers. They advertise like crazy and are always looking for help.

Replied via PM Paul.

For the rest of you, anything that gives you employee stock benefits, employee discounts, or free... anything, should be considered. Most of those kinds of places also have the ability to move up through the ranks if this is your primary job, or at least have flexible hours for those of you who need a second job.

UPS
FedEx
Barnes and Noble / Borders Books
Lowes / Home Depot
.. and so on.

j0n 11-15-2004 12:06 PM

but do you know if they hire at 17? or should i just go and ask?

Untamed 11-15-2004 12:12 PM

Doesn't hurt to pick up the phone and call. During business hours, there is almost always a HUman Resources person available to give out employment information. In most cases though, you need to take some sort of placement test prior to actually applying for a job, combined with a resume. Start polishing up on those resume / interview skills.

As for being 17, I believe the national age limit for full time emplyment is 16, though I'm not certain. It used to be 15 when I started, and still may be. I just recall 16 somewhere during a discussion.

<--lazy ******

i've been turned down by home depot, lowes, and some other place(forgot the name) for trying to apply at 17...i do have a job(bridgewater sports arena on 22) but the pay is ass and i'd love to find something that pays better.

also i am the king of interviews(i have the unofficial record for fastest eagle board of review in central jersey) and the resume is quite polished but i guess i could work on it some more

Its the holiday season. Every store in the mall is hiring. Its a very easy time to pick something up.

HardcoreZ28 11-15-2004 01:30 PM

Jon......do you drive that black thirdgen firebird or trans am that's always at BSA? I work right next door and lift there everyday. Usually I have my truck with me though....big blue Chevy 1500.

And I don't know about that Board of Review being the fastest....I think I only had to meet with them once to get a decision.

FedEx is really awesome and it's like getting paid to work out. I go in for 4-9am.. they have a ton of shifts.. just apply at www.fedexishiring.com

enRo 11-15-2004 05:51 PM

I made an extra $2000+ from snowplowing main roads last winter for Roxbury. Doesnt seem much, but there was only what... three winter storms?? Buy a beater with a plow, and drive around 4x4'ing during big snowstorms and charge ppl $75 a driveway. Trust me, you will be rolling :burnout: in money (that is, if there IS any snowstorms)

Myself being a garbage man is a good workout too... I pick up anywhere from 10-17 tons of stinky raunchy garbage a day, depending on my mood, the weather, and/or time of year. My lowest weight was in the mid 8's.

ar0ck 11-16-2004 11:08 AM

You have to be 18 to work for Fed Ex or UPS, because of the hours and liability crap.

sell drugs...but dont use them... thats 100% profit. not that i've thought about doing that or anything...

JL8Jeff 11-16-2004 02:39 PM

Buy and sell rare Camaro parts on Ebay. I made over $3000 buying the right parts at the right price and then reselling them with a better description to attract more buyers. Or go out and buy a MegaMillions lottery ticket. It's at $126 million right now!

HardcoreZ28 11-16-2004 02:51 PM

"sell drugs...but dont use them... thats 100% profit. not that i've thought about doing that or anything..." The thought used to cross my mind a lot in college...I even had plenty of resources if I wanted to do it.

As far as selling rare Camaro parts, that's not a bad idea. Any suggestions on what types of things to look for? I know alot of the 302 SCCA parts fetch a pretty penny if you can find someone willing to sell them to you cheap, not knowing what they have.

There are all kinds of crazy rare Camaro parts. I don't know enough of them, but take a look at this example. This is a real auction and the guy who won it is restoring a real 69 Camaro ZL1.
