ive never raced b4... but i do drive dirt bikes... nd motorcycles... quads... etc. i have a helmet for those... nd its DOT certified or w/e so can i use that same helmet 4 racing? wat r the qualifications for a racing helmet? i jus bought that helmet nd with all the stuff doing 4 my car... i kinda dont have the money for another new helmet. 8)

check the rating on the helmet. most, if not all, racetracks require Snell-approved helmets. motorcycle helmets are ok too, but they have to meet a certain rating as well, i forget which.

where wud i find the rating? i looked all over.. that tag inside doesnt say nething realli. it is a motorcycle helmet... nd like i said its DOT. so im wondering if thats ok. i jus havta take the visor off it. cuz its more for dirtbike riding... then street bike..

if you want, you can borrow my helmet......... but you gotta be careful with it.

lol i dunno im sorta attached to mine... i mean i may get a new 1 by nex season specifically for this... if i need to... buy i dunno mayb its just me... u kno? other then karl... i dunno if i wud let ne1 use my helmet.

for island and etown the helmet needs to be snell 95 or newer approved...it will have a sticker near the DOT sticker on the back of the helmet....not all dirtbike helmets have this..

what brand helmet is it and how much did it cost....

i have an hjc dirt bike helmet i wear to ride my quad and use to race....

yea it has the lil DOT on the back of it but i cant seee nething on it about snell... lol im such a dork.. nd i dunno its at my dads. he got it for me. so i dunno how much it was either. but i wud gues about 150... i kno he paid almost 200 for his helmet... which is also DOT

a new Bell Star 2 goes for about 90-100 bux... not too bad..

well as much as that might work... i dont think itll fly with the parents. so neways im at my dads house nd i have my helmet here... nd i reread that lil tag thingie inside it... its a bieffe btw. but i dont see nething about snell... so yea where am i looking to find this...? lol

it should have a snell sticker on the exterior of the helmet (usually in the back, by the neck area).....or it would be stitched on the inner lining in the same area.

yea it says DOT on the back by the neck... thats y im not sure...

then it's probably not snell rated... it happens..

i got yelled at for not having a snell helmet, but he said since my car is slow i can run with my DOT only helmet. :(

yea ***** it ill just get a new helmet for next season. plus ill might have it custom done...

that does kinda suck... lol yea ive officially added a new helmet to my xmas list. :-D doubt ill get it tho since the most of the parents dont approve... then again dad is the one who got me started in the majority of the stupid things i do. :twisted:

you can just rent one at the track. it's all of $3 to rent.

Summit sells a real nice set for I believe $80 bucks, comes in 4 colors (Plain White, Red Decals, Blue, Or Silver) They look really good and their full face ones too. DOT aproved for the track. I just forgot the name.

Im going to pick one up myself over the holidays, because I dont like the sped cap one I got for free from my uncle.
