Dead Battery Rant
It bothers me that some people just don't know jack about their cars... like, not performance type stuff, but just basic stuff.
I jumped my friend's friend's car this weekend, and this guy didn't know a damn thing about cars. He didn't understand the concept of jumper-cables... Oi. ~Joe |
My sister drove home on a flat tire so I could change it for her. Ruined the tire needless to say.
|
now multiply that by 2034820384029384, and then add in tires, brakes, oil changes, flat repairs, shocks.....
That is my job. |

Hey Bill, I completely admit I'm no mechanic whatsoever... it's people like me that pay mechanic's salaries :) If I had instructions, I'm sure I could replace my clutch on my own, but the thing is, it would take me much longer than someone that already knows how to do it (mind you, someone that's already replaced clutches on f-bodies too). Come tax time, I'm sure mechanics can do their own taxes, but I bet some of them take them to accountants like me. Why? Because I can do it quicker and more efficiently.
But I mean come on, some basic stuff like, oil changes, replacing a tire, jumping a car... this is something that everyone should know. Jumping a car... you get jumper cables, positive to positive and negative to negative... how difficult is that? lol :P ~Joe |

You would think that......right? You would think that people would look at there tires and check them before the steel belt sticks out of the side right?.....right? You would think that people would get there brakes checked when they heard the screeching, and not the grinding noise right? |

Actualy, now that I think about it, thoes people usualy look at me when I say 3k and turn around and tell me I am trying to rob them. Â*I walked them out to the car, but that doesnt matter because they have NO ******** clue what I am saying, pointing to, or what any of that has to do with why that person is there. Â*
So really, they DONT pay my salary. Â*They just walk off pissed. Â*And when they crash into a bus full of nuns, guess who they are going to sue? Â* You got it. This is the SOLE reason I wana do the Average Guy Car Show. I would love to be able to get these shows out there to people and show them what to look for. Shows like that should be on NBC, ABC, or CBS. With all these new car shows, it should become really popular and the networks should pick up a show like this. |
I think basic car maintenance should be a part of drivers ed, you should have to know how to change a tire before you get behind the wheel of a car.

Big difference... I'm not busting on the kid. I feel sorry for him that he doesn't know some basic stuff. When he told me he didn't know, it's not like I made fun of him, I actually taught him how to jump the car... but inside, I was just in pure disbelief. I think formula4speed spelled out what I'm really trying to get across... I agree with him wholeheartedly that people should know some basic stuff about maintenance before they can drive. BigAl... you would think that, right? Just so you know... when I go to the mechanic and he gives me a price I don't give him hell :) ~Joe |
eh, some people just dont know alot about cars, thats not their fault.
in my opinion, the only thing peoble absolutly have to know is that the should come in for an oil change as close to the specified milage as possible. and the second thing, is if you have someone you trust working on your car for you, just do what they say, and if you cant afford it, then worry about it. if you dont trust the guy, dont let him touch your car. eh, iunno. as statedbefore, when i need my taxes done, ill have an accountant do it. and when i need a house built, a contracter/carpenter will do it. and when someone needs their car worked on, let a mechanic do it. (unless you think you can do it) |
