Check Engine Light

What are the common reasons for the check engine light to come on (02 Hyundai Elantra, 66k miles)? I'm gonna take it to Autozone tomorrow to have them tell me what it is, but I'm curious what some of the common reasons are. I know my dad's Chevy Blazer had it come on often because of the O2 sensor (so they said), but that's all I'm aware of. Oil was just changed 500 - 1000 miles ago, so it's not that (level is fine as well). So what will it most likely be?

Even a loose gas cap can set off the check engine light.

I think Autozones do the check/scan for free. And It may be worth it.

Yea, there are so many reasons for that light, that unless there were other indications that something was wrong, it would be pretty much impossible to guess what it is for.

Text my cell tomorrow when they tell you what's wrong with it, we may be able to handle the fix for it.

9 times outa ten its emissions crap

Yeah I haven't noticed anything really "wrong" witht he car (I mean it is a Hyundai after all). It could very well eb something with the catelytic converter, it's been bad for a while (or so I think...get the random rotten egg/decaying garbage/sulfur smell, was told it was the catalytic converter getting clogged or whatever). I'll find out at some point tomorrow whenever I get my ass to AutoZone.

Ok, AutoZone said the code was an EVAC emissions leak (small), which is most likely from one of the vacuum hoses. He erased the code, but I'm sure it'll be back soon. the light is very distracting when driving, grr. So yeah, who wants to fix it for me? ;)

sounds like the gascap fix...thats what code i threw when that happened to me.

The leak so the light never comes back (or at least not for another 60000 miles for that problem).
