4th Gen Spring ?
 

I am curious as to whether 93-02 v6 & v8 all use the same size springs. Â*I am aware that the front and rear are different in size but are there any other differences?

Example: Â*will the stock springs from a 2002 v6 camaro fit a 1995 Trans Am?

Will they fit? Yes, I'm pretty sure that all 4th gen springs use the same mounting positions and whatnot.

However the V8 springs are generally not the same rate as the v6 springs, so sticking v6 springs on an LT1 car may casue the nose to sag.

Anyone have more definite information than that?

I think someone is going for a cheap way to get better weight transfer. :wink:

Thanks guys for the replys on this. Basically I want to restore my stock ride quality. My car will be 10 years old this spring and some parts are starting to show some wear. For instance I definatly know my front shocks need to be changed out and I might as well do the rear. Since I am going through all this trouble anyway I would like to drop in some fresh springs. I am trying to find out what would work and what wouldn't.

What kind of shocks are you looking at putting in?

I was looking at the KYB Gas-A-Just Shocks offered on tirerack. I was also considering a set of Monroe's from Sears (They offer free installation). Do you have any recommendations?

If the Bilstiens are only a fractional amount more than KYB's and you drive the car a LOT of miles a year then that would be my choose. Even if you had to save an extra $200 and do the installation yourself. FWIW, the rear shocks are CAKE to replace, the fronts are a tad harder but still easier than my thirdgen which uses the mcpherson so it's nothing that would require a lift.
I'm only throughing out Bilstiens because for 3rd gens they are the best bang for the buck in anything that seens bumpy roads and spirited driving.

How much are the bilstiens? And how can the front struts on a 4th gen be easier then a third? You need a strut compressor to do 4th gen struts, my 89 needed a floor jack ;x

Thanks for the replys on this guys. I am gonna start poking around and see if I can find a set of factory v8 springs from a 2000 or newer F car. SLP used to sell take off sets but now they only offer front take off springs for $25.
