ok i know their is alot but i need cam help

i am looking for a new streetable cam with the nice idle to it but i have no idea what to get well that and rockers and springs if anyone can help i would like it alot i got a 94 z28

Do you need the cam to be emissions legal?
Do you mean nice idle in terms of it sounding stock or of it being clearly heard?
How much more power do you wish to gain from this cam swap and/or What times do you want to have your aim set for?
Lastly, what future modifications do you see yourself doing to this engine?

After those, I'd be able to give ya my opinion. There is a very broad amount of things that go along with selecting a cam.

ok dont car about emissions i want it to be clearly herd i am sure you know what i mean and i want enough power its still gonna be an everday driver and i will well want to be buying new rockers and springs with the cam and push rods and possibly a supercharger in like another year and thats about it for a while

youre gonna have to upgrade the valvetrain no matter what cam you buy...theres more questions for ya:
do you have stock bottom end?
if so, are you gonna keep it that way?
what kind of work was done to the heads?
what size stall do you have?
whats your level of tolerance?
do you care about gas mileage?

LT!freak94 03-06-2005 10:27 PM

head work none bottom end stock i got a 2000 stall and thats it from what i was told i got a diff cam in it already but i cant really tell i cant tell by the sound i got a good tolerance and i dont car that much just as i got at least 20 or 18 miles on the high way you know

There's a lil problem for cam selection here concidering your going for a supercharger possibly in the future. Any cam that can be easily heard is going to pretty much be a naturaly asperated cam, by putting a Â*blower on top of it, it may negate a portion of the possible gain of the blower. Obviously, your gonna get a bunch more power from a super charger in that case, just not the full potential, just missmatch for that application.

As for the mean time, and if you decide not to get the blower, I would suggest my cam (in sig), or something a lil smaller than it to be a decent choice for you. At idle, there is no mistake it has a cam, and Ion (or Madz28 at camaroz28.com, he's an lt1 mailorder tunner) put down around 350rwhp with stock heads and bottom end, and he had hooker LTs. So with the supporting valvetrain parts, you would be making very similar power.

thanx a lot for the help i will try to get a hold of that guy and talk to him about it to thanx

Tony Danza 03-07-2005 08:33 PM

Actually, you dont need to get a hold of him to find the info you may want. I would think a better idea for you would be to contact Combonation Motorsports (www.cmotorsports.com, and get the phone# from there and call-its the best way for them) and they will be way more helpful than I can be about what cam will probably work best for you. Also they will set you up with all the valvetrain accesories that will properly accomodate the cam you choose. There are plenty of other places to call, but i recomend those guys because of previous bussiness I've had with them. So whenever you serious about when its time for the new cam, give em a call.

search around on cz28, you will find more cam info than you have time to read....before you click submit order search over there and youll find exactly what you want to know from someone else who owns it, gas mileage, hp/tq curves, street manners 8)

once again thanx for the help i will look over their and i will give them a call soon thanx

LT4 hotcam kit comes with everything and is a good all around cam. You can get it pretty cheap at GMpartsdirect.com. Have a cam with the same specs in my LS1 and it shot me into the 11's at 116+MPH. You can probably expect mid to low 12's on the LT1
