If it handles and has the performance to earn the SS badge, whats the problem?
Back in 1960's, all you needed was $54, and you got yourself the SS trim package on any type of Impala, 6 or 8 cyls.

Whats next? Honda Civic Si VTech SS ??

I liked the old Malibu's better, no offense Al ;-)

BigAls87Z28 03-19-2005 10:44 AM

Its ok to put a SRT badge on a Neon, or a SVT badge on a Focus, but an SS badge on a Malibu? OH NO!!

V 03-19-2005 10:46 AM

yeah but back in the 60's $54 was more like $540 today. I just see it as a marketing scheme, stick an engine in it and slap on ss badges and a billet grille outline. your gonna get a lot of idiots with that trailblazer screwing around and ending up on their roof, but thats their problem. I just think the SS badge should be used with a little restraint. hell make up a new abbreviation, or something. Even ford got carried away with the GT, putting it on the probe, escort, focus and others. I'm sorry, but back in the day GT like SS meant a whole different thing. thats all just my opinion, and how im gonna feel, if they make the cars handle like an "ss" should then fine.

it is and always has been a marketing scheme. they've ALWAYS put ss badges on everything. ****, the 4th gen camaro ss was just a z28 with a hood and wheels. the only reason ss's and firehawks made more power was a lid and a catback.

remember the 80's MC ss's? what did they have, an lg4? come on, 180 hp or something.

I'm not old but even I know the ss's got the 305ci L69 which had 190hp!

I say cool, but they're still ugly. Give me a better price on that GTO and call it a Chevy Lumina, then I'll buy it :) .
The trailblazer with that kind of n/a horsepower is going to be awesome. Finally a throughback to the sy/ty when GM actually cared about the truck performance market. I wouldn't mind them calling the trailblazer SS a Typhoon, it would deserve it.
