What to do???

Ok guys I'm in a jam here. I need to convince my parents to let me buy this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

I was looking at bikes online friday and saw this for cheap so I threw a bid out there for ****s and giggles figuring it would get outbid right away. Well it did but the buyer backed out and now the guy is offering it to me for my $2k bid.

My folks don't want me to have a bike but this is sweet for the price...probably worth 3 times as much. How the hell can I convince them?

buy it now of 15g's but hes gonna let it go for 2 grand...**** buy the bike and find a friend that will store it there for you lol.

HardcoreZ28 04-04-2005 08:14 AM

Already working on that option. Problem is I still owe the folks $7k for my truck and they let me live at their place free.

Looks nice....If you have the money to pay the guy, I say buy it. If your parents really throw a fit, and you can't come up with any other option, re-sell it. Chances are you can get more than $2k on it, and then use that extra to go towards your debt to mom and dad. Then everyone is happy except you, because you just sold a cool bike.

Yeah I might try to pull the "investment" card out on this one and ride it this summer and resell it...who knows....gonna talk to my father during lunch today.
He has the worst guilt trip on me lately thought....everytime I buy something he asks "how are you going to open a business if you keep spending money?" Worst part is he's right...I hate when that happens.

Yea, I get that too....everytime there is 5 mins or more of nice weather, and I'm not in the driveway working on my car.

Well this is one of those situations where the voice of reason needs to speak a little louder than the three year old in your mind yelling "Mine! Mine!" Or... am I the only one who hears the kid?

Truck, car, debt, future business.... do you have time for a bike? Doesn't sound like you have the money. I spent two years trying to get back into an F-body, passing one great deal after another because I didn't have the money. Then... a Rabbi comes along and hands me one. You'll find what you're looking for later. At that point you might be in a better position to actually enjoy it. Imagine buying the bike then having your father remind you every day that you bought it, owe him money, haven't started the business, and aren't riding the bike because you're too busy helping him with his car, seeing the GF, working, or just out somewhere.

Reality = :hammer: :knock: :bang:

Yep, bleak picture. Pass it up and finish the other things you've started.

HardcoreZ28 04-04-2005 12:33 PM

Unfortunately I think you're right Dave. It's not completely the perfect bike for me anyway. I'll keep my eyes on the prize and be debt free by June/July and start advertising for the business. I'll wait until I open my business and build my first car...then the bike will be my reward.

By the way did you hook up your battery at all and try that horn out?

Something is real fishy there. Somebody might have hijacked an Ebay account and stole pictures from another auction to make a phony listing. I wouldn't even think about giving any money until you can get some solid proof this guy is for real and has the bike. Nobody would sell a bike with $28K sunk into it for $2K. Don't jump into it too quickly.

Untamed 04-04-2005 12:58 PM

I'm also glad to see there are other people who impulsively bid on an ebay item hoping to get outbid. That way there's an excuse for letting a good deal go by. "Well, I tried."

I don't know how many floor mats and door panel's I've bid on, lost, and was thankful for it.

HardcoreZ28 04-04-2005 12:59 PM

Yeah I noticed that before myself. I wouldn't pay for a car or bike unless it was in person anyway.
