no third brake on my 87. and the latch moves with the hatch so it doesnt lock into place when i push down on it

HELP!! haha i hate this idea of a trunk pull down my motor runs when i hard wire tested it and the relay is good too but it wont pull down my hatch. what should i do or is there a way to bypass...
