So a dumb question, but, how does one even know if body mounts are bad?

Just trying to start attacking rubber mounts/isolators, truck is about to hit 200k.

At the risk of asking a dumb question, should I go with poly mounts to replace my trucks body mounts?

They are cheap, and easy to acquire, but, worry about ruining a smooth and soft riding 3/4...
