Considering the oil pressure was a problem only after you changed your gaskets (which ones did you change and why?) it would lead me to believe that perhaps you contaminated the engine/oil pan/etc.

FWIW my LT1 uses an Ohio crank. A similar setup on a friends car running the same times also uses one. They're a decent piece.

Agree with the above - I descreened my MAF in 2000 and haven't had a single MAF issue. I'm actually still using the SAME descreened MAF on my current combo. Whether or not it helps/hurts who knows.

Iron heads do use the press-in studs. I like the aluminum heads - better heat dissipation, screw-in rocker studs, lighter weight. But you can put 1.6s on the iron heads just fine.
