I can't remember the details but there is a federal law prohibiting 2-strokes displacing more than 100 (or is it 125) cc's from being street legal. You'll get the it impounded, and that isn't cheap. Talk to Bill now that he works for the NJ DOT, or just call up the DMV and ask them.
I wouldn't bother putting a loud 2-stroke on the road. Just get a 4-stroke 250 for starters. The resale on a good running street 250 is rather good! Then when (if) you feel like an upgrade later on go with a 600 . The Honda CBR series are good deals, cheap to rebuild too, done my fare.
