It's more like some douche bag with a two-incher cuts his cat and muffler, even installs cut-outs and drives on open streets with it. He might thing he is impressing people but all he is doing is scarring kids. It's not jealousy. Good exhaust systems are not necessarily loud. Most of the exhaust systems I hear which make we want to turn down my stereo and open my windows are not "loud".
People with "loud" exhausts are no better than r*cers with bright orange paint -- they're just asking for attention.
