pointing the finger at gas companies for gas prices is sort of missing the point. realize that about $1 per gallon of the cost of gas is from taxes. import, health, hazmat control fees, and sales tax are what makes a lot of gas expensive.
the companies that do not import their crude or refined fuels are just playing the market for a little extra profit. can't really blame them, it is the only way to make you r car move.
