I use spiral core accel wires now. The $40 8mm black variety ever since my MSD's burned up... twice. What's most important is keeping the wires away from heat because once the insolation is gone the path of least resistance is NOT the spark plug but instead the header or valve cover, etc. So just make certain the new wires don't come close to headers.
Also, the coils are a waste of money. If you want to upgrade the energy at the plug then get a higher amp ignition module. Still not worth the $$ for a v8. The MSD box is good for high horsepower large gap (only needed with crappy heads) high compressiong engines that rev above 6000rpm. Keep it below that and the inductive spark will work great.
