Yeah, I'm a tad worried about the health of Detroit. The problem with them is their cost and weight. We shot ourselves in the foot when we taxed imports based on weight... the Maxima is a perfect example of this. The engineers made the car lighter and gave it a reliable motor and a few nice options... nothing fancy. And with only 190hp it was just as fast as the 220hp Ford SHO but got better milage .
The big 3 need to get back to basics and reduce their weight. When things are heavy and poorely engineered they put more stess on other parts of the car resulting in a heavy non-reliable vehicle... if only they would look at it this way . Another thing they should do is come back with the fiero. Right now I can't think of any mid to low priced mid engine sedan on the market... why not bring back the fiero with an ecotec and then have a sport option with the blower or turbo? Then bring back the camaro and maybe even the bird. I want to see more mid-rear engine vehicles because they're more likely to be rwd .
