Welcome to America. Another real life example of how we are so far behind the rest of the world. I love this country but our government is ruining the people.
An explanation: I have a few cousins in Italy (and this goes for all EU countries), the "driving school" classes that the teens get are not just to drive, you have to learn how to change the oil, change a tire, fill antifreeze, clear clogged fuel line, etc. And this is all part of the driving test!
Now, as most of you have seen from movies or shows, the required class doesn't do much for their driving
but everyone I have met over there can tell you the basics about a car. And yes - EVERYONE knows how to drive a car with a frazione. um sorry, clutch. They still make them there.
Another word on Europeans driving - If you ever go, you will feel right at home. Everyone in Europe drives just like us! 8)
