Yes, stress cracks from lack of SFCs. I had them on my 86Z and my 87 TA. Put SFCs in both and then had cracks fixed & welded by body show. The Z got a 300hp 350 & 6speed and never cracked again. The 87 got stolen before I could break in the motor (yes I cried).

I know the bolt in's are cheaper but if your doing any performance mods outside of bolt one, go for the weld in ones. You won't be disppointed.

If no engine mods, just sand, naval jelly, clean and bondo. All fixed.
