It's not so much that they suck, but DVD based systems run on old maps. The satelite systems (at least Acura's) have all the up to date road closures and changes as well as construction and traffic and the system provides alternate routes based on this information. The DVD systems can only provide static info based on what was available at the time of the DVD pressing.
