Now my opinion may be skewed cause I ended up with an award, however I thought it was pretty fair . I prefer 'judged' shows as well, but judges can also be biased. As for getting plaques instead of actual trophies - what do you expect from a FREE organization. Once Tim starts collecting donations at meets or charging dues, then I would expect higher standards such as a PAID lunch at Bennegins and some plastic trophies at the annual meet. But until then...
As for the wheel issue, Fatty's wheels are pretty bling. Its a bit much for my taste, but he got my vote cause I thought he deserved it (Sorry Alex - your wheels look nice, but they are standard issues just like mine.) Rims definitely make certain cars. But a set of rims and a pre-fab speaker box does not a show car make.
My ride is a long way from where I want it to be. If today's show was in 2 weeks, I would have had quite a few more mods myself (I can't wait to get rid of that f-ugly stock air intake). As much as I taunt my car as show, there's really not much to it. The exceptions being the time I have taken to do certain mods and fine touches that mostly go unnoticed (chrome underhood components, LEDs under hood, painted calipers & slotted rotors). Then again, you can only spend so much money on a "garage queen" when you carry a $300k mortgage and a 5 month old baby. However, I digress.
Alas, there is always next year...
Thanks Tim for taking the time to host a great show and congrats to all participants. We are all winners cause we have a forum to get together!
