I don't think they would lose alot, they are dumping LS2's in everything now. Probably cost them more to make a mid-level engine. Plus you can bet there will be a 425HP (at least) SRT8 Challenger for about $30K. I think they are going to need at least a 400HP car to compete, especially with (the much pricier) Shelby on the way. if they can get about 400-450HP and keep it around $25-27K they will put a hurting on Shelby sales. In fact if it were me I would have these 4 trim levels
Camaro -240HP V6 less then $15-$20K
Z-28-400HP LS2, available with low options for less then $25K
SS- 400HP LS2, load er up with options for $30K
ZL1 - 500+HP LS7, NO OPTIONS STANDARD $35-40K
I think it could be done within those price parameters with mostly off the shelf powertrain parts. If they want to hurt the Mustang they are gonna have to compete price wise. I think one thing that severly hurt the 4th Gen was even though it had alot more performance a Mustang GT could be had for $19,000 and a Z28 cost $25,000.
