It would be nice, but GM has NO control over the dealers. Dealers are privately owned. GM cannot say word one about the car. It is, in fact, illegal for GM to do anything. MSRP is only a suggested price.
As for mark up, that will lead to 2 things
#1- very little sale of the Camaro
#2- upset die hard Camaro fans
And there will be a dealer somewhere that will be selling them at MSRP, ready to order for whoever walks in, and they will be getting the business. On GMI, we have a forum dedicated to dealers around the US. We plan on coming up with a list of dealers that will work with customers with there request.
