to get the ratio, coutn the number of teeth on the ring gear(larger gear) and then count the number of teeth on the pinion gear. divide the ring gear number by the pinion number and you will have the ratio. Also most gearsets will have a stamping on the outer edge of the ring gear stating the ratio.
