that is because many of the cars they are put in are a bit heavy. 4th gens easily weigh 3500lbs, getting that rolling to freeway speed with only 200hp and not enough gear is going to leave your foot in the throttle a long time.
GP/GTP's are not much better, many of which curb at 3300+ and are stuck with much less efficiant drivetrains and commonly even less final drive gearing.
