how can anyone be amazed that their is fighting in the middle east. hmmm, a culture that has been infighting for well over 500years. who would have guessed they would start doing it again? duh!

the draft is an easy one. it is called a conciencious(sp?) objector form. by federal law if you saw you have a moral or religious objection to fighting, you can not be forced to fight.

is having a cash of firearms an answer? if you don't like politicians, get politically active. i don't mean protesting if you don't want, but regularly email and/or call those who represent you to let them know your opinion and desires as a citizen.

i don't know when america turned into a culture of fear, but it is getting retarded really fast. everyone needs to go out and educate themselves about how the world really works and maybe they can see solutions instead of jsut wandering aimlessly in the political dark being afraid of what "the man" will ask them to do next.

I agree, could not have said it better. There is no evidence for a political revolution here in the US- there IS evidence of a democratic party which is getting tired of not having any power, therefore they are flexing every muscle in the complaint department that they have.

The bottom line right now is this- the only political revolution coming up here at home will probably take place in November, if at all by way of voting. Right now, republicans control both the house, the senate, and the Presidency. This allows republicans to get their way the majority of the time.

Look back in history- before the republicans took over, the Democrats had the SAME setup back before Nixon had his scandals. It's all part of the way things evolve in the political world. So, just because the parties have been on such polar-opposite sides of the spectrum, there is absolutely NO signs/proof/whatever of a new aged civil war.

To be quite honest, I would be ASHAMED of our country if this happened. Look at what happened at 9/11. If the Democrats or Republicans thought that differing views was now enough to start a civil war, then 9/11 hasn't taught anyone *****.

As far as what's happening in the mideast, if you have been looking at the instability for years, this could be seen coming a MILE away. The problem? We have our troops smack dab in the middle of the whole thing if WWIII does break out in the mideast.

If the US had been smart, we would have started to drill for oil in Alaska, regardless of how much the penguins need the territory. If we had done this ten years ago, then we could simply take our troops out of the area and let the mideast bomb the hell out of each other, leaving us out of the issue. The problem is that our economy runs on oil, and the mideast has all of the available stuff.

If the US did completely embargo the area, and took all civilians and troops out, and stopped trading because of fear of the war, the longest we could last would be approximately 75 days, since our Government keeps a stash of oil that could last for our country for a period of that length. After that, in order to last with our oil, we would NEED to fight, in order to keep our economy running.

If our economy doesn't run, we have no weapons, no weapons, no army, no army, the Mideast bombs the hell out of us and we couldn't do a damn thing. So, it should be extremely interesting watching what Bush does and how things come to fruition.
