At my old job, we let a customer leave his old Desoto in the lot for what ended up being over a year or more. I guess it was a mid to late 50s model. It had one of the original hemis (not the later 426) in it – there was a name on the valve covers, something like Blue Flame or something. It even had an automatic – big doings back in the day. We even got it running, albeit poorly. The motor & carb needed to be rebuilt, we just wanted to see if it would fire up.
That would have been a cool project. I should have tried to buy it, but I didn’t know any better – and my view was too singular – only f-bodies. That would have been a great hot rod.
My point might be not to limit yourself. Or I felt like reminiscing about a good car I let go.
