The age card is an allusion to the idea that time is the best way to gain experience, and hopefully along with such experience wisdom. Age often correlates with experience, so it is generally accepted that an older man is not simply just older, but more experienced.

Yet in defending your position on the age card, you site your experiences that have made you more knowledgeable. Would it aggravate you if I told you, without ever being there and knowing only what I have read, that I know twice as much about Chechnya then you? Probably.

Anyways, back to something almost on topic: The UN has many shortcomings, but I look at it moreso as a possible path to take in the future. If we were to abandon the already tattered UN, we would be taking a step back from world peace. Do I think we'll ever have world peace? Not in my lifetime. But striving for peace and the idea of peace through international cooperation is worthwhile IMO. So basically, the UN is debateable, but its values are not. If we think about it seriously though, The US doesn't look like it will pool more sovereignty into a collective, even western centered organization. On a smaller scale, Europe is struggling with the idea of pooled sovereignty in the European Union.
