The LT1 stock cam is actually very close to the old Comp-U-Cam grind.
(think is was called the 4020 or 4040 cam?).
What makes them nice for the TPI motors are A) they give a nice gain in the mid range and slight upper RPM range and still stay emmisiions legal. B ) You can get them for dirt cheap compared to a new cams price.
If you want the max out of the motor then there are better options, but for the price it's not a bad mod.
