doing the prep work yourself will save you the most money. that's where the money is in a good paint job. yes, the paint and materials cost some, but the majority of the money in a paint job is in the prep work. if you take it to maaco, forget about quality. they'll just spray over whatever you have now, and in a year or two it will start coming up.
why not take a class in body work to give yourself the foundation to be able to handle the prep work yourself? the dividends are bound to be worth more than the class... (ask me how i know)
