toyota has had a past success in prototype racing back in the 80's, and their F1 program isn't as far off as the drivers they keep hiring.
the rolex thing is a tough call, they got f'ed over bad on weight last year and the sanctioning body(same stooges that own nascar) haven't given it all back to them. last year the yota's were weighing in the same as the pontiacs that they were giving up almost a ful liter of displacement to.
toyota has failed to ever show any success in any form of racing that is remotely production based though.
toyota has also had some success in cart cars, although not much consistancy to speak of.
the thingto understand about toyota and the other jap manufacturers is that winning is not the immediate point of why many of them race. market exposure and engineering weigh far more heavily on thier minds than winning the redneckian 500 ever will
