Overrated, in the media sense, you guys know the radio station WFAN on AM radio? I think its 660AM. I once heard the one guy say they should erect a full size statue of Jeter next to Ruths place beyond the wall. I'm sorry...Derek is a good player, like i said, he really is. But he is no Babe Ruth. As far as baseball fans/analysts using the numbers you are 100% right, Jeter has very good numbers, in fact his career numbers are just a few ticks over A-rods...well BA and OBP.

In high school, I thought 24 games was a long season, now college is over 40 games, if you struggle its rough, mlb players endure 162 games I can't imagine that. As a ballplayer I'll vouch and say after struggling so much in the playoffs the last thing I'd want to do is brood over it and let it carry over to next season. The best thing to do is learn from it and move on, don't carry it with you no?

First, I didn't say life, only because I know everyone here is probably different ages, I'm only 20 so I didn't see guys like Mantle and them play. A-Rod hits 30 home runs or so? 30 is a gross understatement, since he was an everyday starter (which omits '94 and '95) A-Rod has hit 36,23,42,42,41,52,57,47,36,48,35....averaging out to be about 42 hr per season. That's pretty damn good no matter how you look at it. I will address the postseason 'pressure' next.

Jeter, like REAL Yankee's, know what pressure is. I never once saw Jeter choke or die off for an entire Playoff!!

Now let's look at the numbers again since the numbers are the bottom line in baseball. In '04 A-Rods cumulative postseason BA was .320 (16/50). That's not too shabby right? Now, here is your case, and I agree with you, in '05 and '06 he hit .133 (2/15; although in his defense his OBP was .435 so he was still on base) and .071 (1/14) respectively. Both pretty bad, I'll admit, but look at it in perspective, you say it's a 'whole postseason' and while it was for the yankess since they were eliminated, it was only a D.S., somewhere between 3-5 days, we're not talking the D.S., ALCS, and WS here. We're talking about a bad week. Not enough time to come out of a slump especially with the media breathing down on you and YOUR OWN FANS booing you.
