To me, this whole discussion and the one about the street racing tragedy in Neptune have the same underlying tone. The parallel is excessive speed on public roads. Speeding itself is not inherently dangerous. But it exponentially magnifies the problem when the unexpected occurs, be it a blow out, a guy swerving, or someone making an illegal turn. Reaction time is cut and the accident related forces are higher. That is why there is no such thing as safe street racing/speeding. And yes, I speed. But not 30+ over. And never on streets <55 MPH.
And only meatheads don’t wear seatbelts.
