As for the hiking, Its ok, i just like to watch all the stoner college kids walkin around all paraniod to remind me of what i looked like and if you like dogs a lot of people bring dogs there. The lower lake is mainly for yuppie joggers who come in their BMW's after work to get in touch with nature. There are some trails steming off of that, you will see on on the west side of the lake right in the middle that goes off over a small wooden bridge and up the mountain which you can see the city from. On the south west corner of the lake there are several paths, the main one is gravel and it takes you up to the upper lake where a lot of poeple swim even thoug your not supposed to. There is a run off from the upper lake to the river which has a few water falls you can see from this path, there are more paths going beyond that lake all the way back to 287

personally, I like walking where there are minimal people, I have found one of the nicest spots around to hike is by parking my car in warwick NY at the train station and walking either way on the tracks. Real nice country, streams, mountains, bridges etc. Other than that lake welch in harraman is nice too, good view of Manhattan from some hill tops, storm king and Manatoga by Bear Mt. are real nice walks too
